FLAG Spoken Language ContestOn Saturday, March 25, from 7:30AM - 11:30AM, Cambridge High School will host the FLAG (Foreign Language Association of Georgia) Spoken Language Contest. At this prestigious event, more than 30 judges and teachers will interview over 300 middle and high school students from around Georgia who will showcase their world language skills.
Donations for breakfast and concessions appreciated In order to make this event a success, we are asking for donations for the judge's breakfast, paper products and bake sale items to be sold at concessions. Concession proceeds will be used to purchase materials and books for our expanding World Language Program at Cambridge. Since Friday, March 24 is a student holiday, students may bring donations to school through Thursday, March 23. Parents may also bring donations to the main office at Cambridge High School by Friday, March 24. Thank you for your support of the World Language department. Also, we are offering double hours for student service for the FLAG contest. Students can help on Friday afternoon or on Saturday morning in shifts from 7:30 - 9:30AM & 9:30 - 11:30AM. Le Grand Concours (The National French Exam)
The French teachers are happy to announce the opportunity for your son or daughter to take the National French Exam (or Grand Concours)! This is a multiple-choice exam that includes listening comprehension, vocabulary and grammar in context and readings. Nationwide, over 90,000 students of French take this exam annually. There is no failure nor are there any negative consequences for taking this test. Students scoring in the top 50% earn a certificate. There is also the potential to be awarded ribbons, medals and other prizes. French teachers will administer the Grand Concours during French class periods on Tuesday, March 21 and Wednesday, March 22. Your son or daughter has the opportunity to take the exam on one of these days. Make up times will be offered with the last day of test administration on Thursday, March 23.
The last day to turn in the parent permission form and $10 payment is Thursday, February 9. See attached registration form for more information. Students will receive a hardcopy of the registration form in class as well as the specifications for material that may be on the exam.

For level 3, Cambridge begins the first semester with Review, Unit 1, Unit 3 and an introduction to Unit 2 before final exams. For spring semester, we continue with Unit 2 and then move on to units 4, 5 and part of unit 6. We are learning many new verb tenses this year, in addition to vocabulary and other grammatical concepts. We take advantage of the many opportunities to incorporate culture and authentic materials.
On Friday, students are invited to bring in a King Pie (Galette des Rois) to celebrate last week's French holiday "La Fête des Rois". An email was sent to parents with informaiton. The link to a website which gives an fairly easy recipe is to the right. When students finish their final exam, they are permitted to study using their paper materials.

Joining Google Classroom
Instructions below are the same as in our class policies. Most students successfully joined at the beginning of the school year. Once you join google classroom, please remain a member until after the semester is completed, you have earned your grade and have no further questions. To access, go to: classroom.google.com
To post your project
At the top of the page, click on the stream tab. In order to post, look at the bottom right of your screen and go to the plus symbol (+). Click on the plus symbol to "create post". You will first have to type in the area that says "share with the class" and here, you can type your name. Once you type here, it will then allow you to attach and post your project – either by the paperclip or through a link for electronic presentations. You can also attach through Google Drive.

au vendredi le 11 novembre *PROJECT (Mon Enfance)* *Wednesday, November 9 rough draft due at the beginning of class. *Sunday, November 13 at 11:59pm, project due and uploaded to Google Classroom. A fun project that allows us to get to know each other better as well as practice application of the two main past tenses in French is a presentation about your childhood. The rubric checklist and rough draft handout are on the document which is uploaded here. The rough draft is due on Wednesday, November 9. Students must turn in their rough draft for their project at the beginning of class. Seven of ten phrases must be completed. They will receive a grade for the rough draft based on the homework/classwork rubric. Students will then have 20 minutes of class time to continue to work on the draft and then turn in to receive more detailed feedback for the next day. Students will receive their drafts on Thursday at the beginning of class with teacher feedback. Students will have Thursday and Friday to work on their projects using the laptops. The final presentation is due to be uploaded to Google Classroom on Sunday, November 13 by11:59PM. |

Every morning at 7:45 in room 2727, there will be a fun activity. Please pay your dues of $25 for the year. This includes a T-shirt. The last day to pay dues will be Friday, Nov. 4. On Monday, students will receive a test study guide and we will continue our review on Tuesday. When students come to class on Tuesday, the study guide should be completed. Our Review/Unit 1 test will be on Wednesday. On Thursday and Friday, students are doing more reading, speaking and writing activities in preparation for the following week's PBAs. PBAs are postponed to later next week (Writing on Thursday, Oct.6 and Speaking on Friday, Oct. 7).

Students are learning how to express feelings regarding daily routine and discuss daily routine as it pertains to morning, afternoon and evening activities. Students will be engaging in conversation and written activities. On Tuesday, students will take a quiz over a reading that was assigned last week. Our first test will be next Wednesday (September 28) with a written and spoken PBA to follow later next week.

Students will take a quiz on Friday over the following: irregular past participles and meanings of the infinitives, reflexive verbs in the present tense and writiing a description of a person (hair length, color texture, eye color, shape of face, and distinguishing characteristics such as tatoos, scars, beauty marks, beard, mustache, freckles). Homework was assigned on Wednesday and will be collected on Friday. Students must write a sentence using a verb reflexively and non-reflexively for each set of images. See below:
