Projet: Voyages et Cuisine, printemps 2018
For students who wish to raise their percentage in the test category
Miam, Miam! (that means "Yum, Yum!". Here's a fun and cultural way to share French cuisine with the class and improve your grade. This is an individual project. The only class time that will be used to complete this project will be on Tuesday, May 8 while other students are working on a study guide. All students must turn in the completed study guide. No other class time will be used. This project includes two parts:
1) PowerPoint Presentation which includes a travel itinerary and places you will visit (follow rubric). Project must be turned in to Mme LeClair-Ash and will NOT be presented to the class. You must carefully follow all instructions on the following handouts.
2) Serving the class a French recipe that you prepared at home. The "cuisine" section of the project will need a signature of at least one parent who supervised the preparation/storage of the food. See the button below that says "Rubric".
This project is NOT "Extra Credit". The grade on this project will be entered in Home Access in the Test Grade category. Students who are not doing this project will have a grade of "ex" (excused).

3. This is a project about a trip to francophone countries and cities that you will take in the future. This includes where you will go, what you will see, eat and do. You will also make a recipe from a francophone country that you will visit and bring it to class to share with classmates.
4. Create a PowerPoint presentation with a minimum of 10 slides that is based on your rough draft and corrections. Choose at least 8 places that you will visit (countries, regions, cities) in francophone countries, concentrating mainly on the future tense. All locations that you visit need to be francophone locations. Use the future tense and phrases with "si" and "quand" according to the format that we have discussed and used in class. You may also incorporate other verb tenses, such as passé composé, imparfait, conditionnel, subjonctif.
5. The slides must include where you will visit, what you will do, sites that you will see and excursions that you will do. By doing this, you are making connections with other disciplines, such as Art, History, Architecture, Cuisine, Geography, Music, etc.
6. Your presentation must include images that correspond to the text that you are presenting. Text should NOT be copied and pasted into the slides from the Internet (this is plagiarism). Complete the research and rewrite the information in your own words, at French III level, in a short and concise format. French is required and do not use English words in parenthesis. The use of google translate and other translators and excessive help from other students, parents or French speakers will result in this project not being graded or this being counted as a zero If you use web translators or have too much help from another person on your rough draft, you cannot proceed with the project. Follow the format for the rough draft that is attached. This and parent permission form are due on Wednesday, May 3.
7. Before your presentation is complete, please show your presentation to Mme LeClair-Ash to check for accuracy.
8. With an approved recipe by Mme LeClair-Ash, make a recipe from a francophone city, region or country that you may want to try during your travels. Include the ingredients on a slide in your presentation. Bring the recipe to school to share with classmates. You must make the recipe and you and your parents will need to sign the contract provided which attests to the fact that you made it with little or no help from parents and that you safely prepared and stored the food. You are responsible for bringing plates, napkins, utensils and anything else needed to serve your classmates. Please prepare as much as possible in advance to serve to the class in a fast and efficient way. We can only take a few minutes of class time to serve classmates.
*Below are some recipes that you may want to research. When using surfaces, go to google images to look at the following foods. If one interests you, then search for the recipes. NO french toast, french fries, fruit salad or anything else that is also American! Our goal is to expose classmates to as many new and different foods as possible from the francophone world. All recipes must be approved by Mme LeClair-Ash.
