Bienvenue à la Classe de Français 3 Honoraire
2018 - 2019
Welcome to my website and our webpage for French 3 Honors! We will use this webpage for general homework instructions and announcements. Since this website does not require a password, it is a good resource for parents who wish to know due dates for major assignments and general announcements. At times, our class may use Google Classroom to share assignments and turn in projects.
On a daily basis, students have several 2 - 4 minute conversations with partners or in small groups. Our classes are at least 90% in French and the expectation is for students to use French and ask for clarification when they don't understand. We emphasize the use of French in all skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking and we weave culture and grammar into our communication. On some days, our focus might involve more writing, speaking, culture or reading. Below, you will find more specific information on a weekly basis.

The Fulton County School District is responding to a shift to proficiency-based instruction which places more value on what a student you can do with the language as a whole rather than focusing on small pieces (such as matching vocabulary or conjugating verbs). There is greater importance placed on performing meaningful tasks and using the language in more authentic contexts.
The final exam (or FCAs) are 15% of a student's grade. The final exam written and spoken Performance-based assessments (PBAs) are given a week before the final exam. Students cannot exempt these assessments. The written and spoken performance-based assessments are each worth 20% of the final exam. This leaves the scantron multiple choice section (given during the week of May 21- 23) to be worth 60% of the student's final exam. This multiple choice section of the FCA includes reading, listening, culture and some grammar and vocabulary in context.

To prepare, students should review vocabulary from units 1 - 4 along with the major grammatical concepts and verb tenses that we have studied since the beginning of the school year in August. Please refer to all handouts that were given during this year. Since the part of the final exam that will be given this week (May 21 - 23) is the scantron section of the Fulton County Final Common Assessment, this is entirely multiple choice and includes a variety of grammar concepts, verb tenses and vocabulary embedded in the reading and listening sections. The Final Common Assessment has 50 questions. The structure of the final exam is as follows:
*Listening (15 questions)
*Three readings (15 questions)
*Vocabulary and structures in context (15 questions)
*Culture in English (5 questions)
All students need to do some review on their own. If students have questions, they may ask on Monday. Often, students have a false sense of security with multiple-choice exams since they feel they can spot the correct answer. In the case of students who have borderline grades, they should pay careful attention to all suggestions and study for this final exam. If they have any questions, they should take note of the questions and ask me on Monday or arrange a time to meet with me.
It is very important that if students are not taking an AP test, that they are in class on Friday and Monday. We will be learning new information as well as doing some review. On Monday, May 21, we will continue our review and play a Kahoot that will simulate the vocabulary and structures in context questions. Our review will NOT have the same questions that will appear on the Final Common Assessment.
Below is the last Ppt. This is not a Final Exam review Ppt but does have some review of the verb tenses. Please use your vocabulary handouts, stories with verbs and vocabulary in context and dialogues from the textbook for study. Also, please review notes and Ppts with negative expressions and object pronouns. If you scroll down, you can also review previous PowerPoints on this webpage.

Bonne Année 2019!
Welcome back! I hope everyone had a wonderful and restful vacation. On Monday, we discussed the holiday of "Fête des Rois" which is celebrated in the francophone world. Parents should have received an email about a cultural activity (making a galette des rois) that students can do for a culture grade (though it is not mandatory). For the remainder of the week, we will be working with conversation activities, vocabulary and structures from unit 2. We are also working on the subjunctive and will be using it little by little throughout the semester.
